Vacancy Description

This an exciting opportunity to join Manor House Surgery providing a vital support as an Business Administration Apprentice for a growing organisation.

The purpose of the role is to:

Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team. Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the practice administration team may include any or all of the items in the following list -

• Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system
• Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
• Taking messages and passing on information
• Filing and retrieving paperwork
• Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
• Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers
• Providing clerical assistance to practice including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning
• Ordering, re-ordering and monitoring of stationery and other supplies
• Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors as required; washing up and keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy
• Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
It is very important that the successful candidate is very accurate, conscientious and thorough with their work and capable on maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.

Entry Requirements

GCSE grade A-C in English, Maths and Science or equivilent


You will already have the following skills:
• Excellent communication skills
• Enthusiastic with an aspiration to succeed
• Computer literate
• Ability to work as part of a busy team
• Excellent English grammar and attention to detail is essential.
• Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
• Excellent telephone manner
• Good understanding of confidentially.
• Self-motivated with the ability to take the initiative

Company Description

Manor House Surgery is a small rural GP Practice based in Belton. There are 3 Doctors who provide medical care for approximately 4200 patients based in the surrounding villages. We are a Dispensing Doctors which means that we dispense medications to those patients living in a rural area more than 1.6km from a Pharmacy. The doctors are supported by group of staff which comprise of nurses, dispensers, receptionists and administrators. We pride ourselves in providing good quality health care in a friendly environment.
